Ostrander Wins Women's Race at Oak Knoll Loop Run

Willamette Women and Portland Men Earn Team Titles 

INDEPENDENCE, ORE. -- Taylor Ostrander (Jr., Kenai, AK/Kenai Central HS) of Willamette University won the women's 5-kilometer race at the Oak Knoll Loop Run on Saturday, Sept. 20. Scott Fauble from the University of Portland took first place in the men's 8-kilometer race. The meet was held at Oak Knoll Golf Course.

Willamette claimed the women's team title with a score of 19, while Mount Hood Community College finished second with a score of 44. The men's team title went to the University of Portland, which achieved a team score of 27. Willamette was second at 37 and Mt. Hood CC took third at 63.

Ostrander helped Willamette achieved a 1-3-4-5-6 finish. She earned a time of 18:35.7 to win by just over two seconds. Georgia Glovatsky of Mt. Hood was second at 18:56.9 and Hannah Bressler (Jr., Oak Harbor, WA/Oak Harbor HS) of Willamette was third at 18:36.6.

Olivia Mancl (So., Seattle, WA/Roosevelt HS) took fourth place in 18:51.4 and Alyssa Reese (Fr., Louisville, CO/Monarch HS) crossed the finish line in fifth place at 18:56.1. Michaela Freeby (Sr., Milwaukie, OR/Rex Putnam HS) was sixth at 18:57.6. Linsie Michels, running unattached, took seventh at 19:06.0.

Willamette runners claimed eighth place through 10th place. Ami Boucher (So., Concord, CA/Northgate HS) claimed eighth at 19:14.2, while Hannah Swanson (Fr., Seattle, WA/Roosevelt HS) was ninth at 19:21.3 and Juliet Farnan (Jr., Lafayette, CA/Campolindo HS) was 10th at 19:50.2.

In the men's race, Fauble led the way for Portland with a time of 24:46.5. Sean O'Hollearn, also from Portland, placed second in 25:03.4. Third place went to Gabriel Haughey, running attached, who registered a time of 24:10.8. Justin Rocereto of Portland was fourth at 25:14.6 and Nicholas Hauger, competing unattached, was fifth at 25:17.3.

Jacob Shafi (Jr., Pleasanton, CA/Amador Valley HS) of Willamette took sixth place in 25:36.0 and teammate Yonny Castillo (Jr., Parkdale, OR/Hood River Valley HS) finished next at 25:45.1. Ian Andres, an unattached runner, placed eighth in 25:55.5.

Brandon Raleigh of Mt. Hood finished ninth at 25:56.4. Daniel Swanson (Sr., Seattle, WA/Roosevelt HS) of WU was 10th in 26:02.6.

Willamette will host the 40th Annual Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Bush's Pasture Park in Salem, Ore. The meet is scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. (PDT).
